A zesty perspective of food, photography, and domestication (on the side).
You know how the saying goes, “you eat with your eyes first” and “you are what you eat.” So lets get down on some beautiful food y’all! I have a new found love for all photography and am learning as I go. I am not limiting myself to just food photography and want to keep growing. Luckily, some of my friends have agreed to let me take their family photos and I am hoping to continue to develop this skill along with food design. My husband and I have recently purchased our first home and I thoroughly enjoy decorating and hosting parties. A.k.a. welcome to my lifestyle blog and be sure to check out the About section to learn more about me!
My friends and family deserve some serious cred. First, to my husband, Greg. I would not have had the courage to kick start this website without your encouragement and love. Also, your tech support is clutch. Thank you to my parents and sister for believing in me. I have had my share of wild ideas throughout life; with this particular blog idea you all corralled behind me and have pushed me to be bigger and better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you to all my blogger buddies but mostly to Jordan Grantham, creator of The Happy Homebodies. She has been so incredibly helpful with this creative start-up, always pushing me to reach for the stars. Next, can we talk about this amazing calligraphy on my logo?! My friend, Jessica Schwartz, did this for me. Jessica, like Jordan, is a mom of multiples! Despite juggling her toddler twin boys, a big move across the country, my indecisiveness, and starting up Bug and Bear Designs Co. she was so easy to work with. I am beyond pleased with how this turned out which also couldn’t have been possible without the finesse of my super talented visual graphic designer and best friend, Lauren Meyer.
Lastly, naming rights to this blog go out to none other than my bud, Blake Williams. After a brain storming session with Greg, Blake, and Blake’s fiance, Ashley, we came up with at least 59 terrible ideas until Blake landed on “When Carrot Met Salad.” I mulled over it for a few days and talked to some close friends about it. I soon realized that every time I mentioned “When Carrot Met Salad” it brought a smile to my face and a laugh to those whom I was sharing the name with. Confession, I had never seen When Harry Met Sally the name inspiration behind this blog. I know, apparently I was living under the most obnoxiously large rock. I quickly ordered the movie on demand the night after our brain storm and fell even more in love with Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. The humor in this movie is right up my alley and I totally get why people reference it so often. I cried, I laughed, and I wanted to watch it again. My hope is that this blog and these recipes will do just that; get you laughing, sharing with friends, and wanting to come back for more.
